At Warton Nethersole’s CofE Primary School we understand the importance of E-Safety for our pupils, family and community. We want to ensure that every child in our care is safe, and the same principles apply to the ‘virtual’ or digital world as are applied to our physical world. We have strict filtering systems and policies in place to protect our pupils online as far as possible while in school. Despite this, we understand that using digital devices and the web is never 100% safe, therefore we try really hard to ensure that our pupils are equipped for situations which might be unsuitable or uncomfortable both in school and when using technology at home.
Our E-Safety lead is Miss Friend (Head Teacher) supported by Mr Whorwood (Computing Subject Champion). Together, we are building a new curriculum which focusses on individual elements of e-safety across the curriculum- this includes understanding the SMART rules, cyber-bullying, protecting personal information and our online presence as well as social media and gaming. We teach e-safety at the start of the academic year and at the beginning of each term as well as raising awareness at home and at school on specific days such as Safer Internet Day. We also link e-safety to our values days as we expect our pupils to demonstrate our school values online as well as in person.
