Our Nursery

At Warton CofE Primary we are delighted to offer a nursery class for our community called Acorn Class and accept children from 2 years old. We are really proud to have acquired a new building for Acorn Class in 2019 with a grant from the EU. The building is set next door to our school with it’s own outdoor play space, field and wooded area. Our nursery are a vital part of our school and as such is run in line with our whole school vision and values. Our young Acorns will grow into our Year 6 Oaks and we aim for them to begin that journey in the best possible way with our vision of ‘Be Courageous, Be Strong, Do Everything with Love’ at the centre of their work. The nursery is led by Mrs Sage (Assistant Head / EYFS Lead) and has 3 nursery practitioners who all work full time – please see below to read more about our wonderful team!

If you are interested in joining our nursery, please email Mrs Sage (rachel.sage@heartwoodmat.co.uk) or call the school office directly.

I am Rachel Sage and I’ve been teaching since 2008. Early Years is my passion; I love to see how quickly young children learn and grow through their first few years in education. I have taught in a maintained Nursery class as well as Reception classes and I have been at Warton since 2015.

When I started here we didn’t have Nursery provision as part of our school. We opened our Nursery in 2016 and in January 2019 we moved into a refurbished building on a different part of our school site. As Early Years Leader I oversee our Nursery and Reception provision. I support our Nursery practitioners through curriculum design, medium-term planning, pupil progress meetings, identifying and supporting SEND children and carrying our administrative tasks. It is really important to me that I get to know all of our Nursery and Reception children as they are all a really important part of our school.

I am Miss Baker and it has been a continuous ambition of mine, from an early age, to work with children and provide them with fun learning experiences. My early years career began in 2018 when I was provided with the opportunity to gain some experience within an early years setting, which later led to my employment at Acorns Nursery in 2020. When I was offered the opportunity to work with children, I was so pleased and have really enjoyed learning and understanding what makes each individual child special and the different ways that the children learn.

I am Mrs Miller and I have been working with children for the past 30 years with a lifetime ambition to work in a school early years setting. Eight years ago I was given the opportunity to work at Warton Nethersole’s Primary school starting as a TA in Willow class and then working in other classes throughout the school. I particularly enjoy the early years as the children give me so much pleasure working with so many different characters and watching them shine. When I gained the job as a keyworker in our new nursey in 2016 I was overjoyed.
