At Warton CofE Primary we are delighted to offer a nursery class for our community called Acorn Class and accept children from 2 years old. We are really proud to have acquired a new building for Acorn Class last year (2019) and it is set next door to our school with it’s own outdoor play space, field and wooded area. Our nursery are a vital part of our school and as such is run in line with our whole school vision and values. Our young Acorns will grow into our Year 6 Oaks and we aim for them to begin that journey in the best possible way with our vision of ‘Be Courageous, Be Strong, Do Everything with Love’ at the centre of their work. The nursery is led by Mrs Sage (Assistant Head / EYFS Lead) and has 3 nursery practitioners who all work full time – please see below to read more about our wonderful team!
If you are interested in joining our nursery, please email Mrs Sage (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call the school office directly.
I am Rachel Sage and I’ve been teaching since 2008. Early Years is my passion; I love to
see how quickly young children learn and grow through their first few years in education. I
have taught in a maintained Nursery class as well as Reception classes and I have been at
Warton since 2015.
When I started here we didn’t have Nursery provision as part of our school. We opened our
Nursery in 2016 and in January 2019 we moved into a refurbished building on a different
part of the school site. I currently teach our Reception class and oversee our Nursery
provision. I support our three full-time Nursery practitioners with medium-term planning, pupil
progress, identifying and supporting SEND children and administrative tasks. It is really
important to me that I get to know our Nursery children so that transition into Reception is as
smooth as possible.
Our Nursery children and staff are very much a part of our school; they eat lunch in the
school hall, join us for special celebration assemblies, attend church for Christmas and
Easter services, take part in whole-school activities such as World Book Day and Children in
Need and use the school building for PE sessions and to access the library.
I am Miss Baker and I have worked in Early Years since finishing my A Levels. I have completed all of my qualifications in this area whilst working in an Early Years setting. I completed my BA Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies around a year before beginning work here at Warton, and I have worked at this Nursery since it first opened in September 2016. I really enjoy working in Early Years as no two days are the same, and each one brings different moments of joy! It is fantastic to be part of, and see, the amazing achievements that the children here have each day.
I am Mrs Miller and I have been working with children for the past 30 years with a lifetime ambition to work in a school early years setting. Eight years ago I was given the opportunity to work at Warton Nethersole’s Primary school starting as a TA in Willow class and then working in other classes throughout the school. I particularly enjoy the early years as the children give me so much pleasure working with so many different characters and watching them shine. When I gained the job as a keyworker in our new nursey in 2016 I was overjoyed.
