Governance

Letter from the Chair

As Chair of the Local Academy Board (governors) I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Warton Nethersole’s CE Primary School.

Here staff, children, parents and members of the Local Academy Board work together in a happy, creative and high attaining environment with our Christian values of love, trust, forgiveness, respect, thankfulness and community underpinning everything that we do.

I have been a governor since 2013 and Chair since 2019. I am a committed Christian currently worshipping with a local Church of England congregation and also a branch of God’s family in our holiday city of Tours, France.  I have two grown-up children, who both attended Warton School, and four grandchildren. Although now retired I maintain my interest in Special Educational Needs and Religious Education. I am an avid reader, collect children’s literature and enjoy walking, craft activities and French life and culture. I feel very privileged to have the time to support the staff and children of our wonderful school.

Sincerely yours,
Linda A Buckingham (Chair LAB)

As the Rector of the Parish of All Souls, I have the responsibility and pleasure of being a Governor at not just Warton Nethersole’s CofE Primary School, but also the 2 other CofE Primary schools in the Parish. I have a particular interest in the distinctive Christian nature of our school, and how this plays out to ensure that our children have a good education, delivered in a nurturing environment. Through all of this enabling our children to grow into the best versions of themselves, knowing that they are loved by God, beyond all measure. Philippa Allison Russell – Parent Governor

Having recently been named as a parent governor, I’m pleased to be commencing this role to help support the children, staff and school with their continued excellence. I’m a married mum to 3 young children that has lived in the village for years and feel it’s a great place to raise children. I am an NHS Dietitian, who’s passionate about and has supported both adults and children with the improvement of their health and nutrition. I look forward to supporting the governing body to ensure that each child and all staff have a happy, encouraging, and safe environment to thrive throughout their time at Warton school. I hope to bring fresh ideas to maintain the high standards already in place.

Louise Invine-Rawlins – Co-opted Governor

I joined as a governor in November 2023. In my professional life, I’m a communications manager at a national retailer and have worked in communications in various industries for 14 years. In my personal life, I’m a mum of two and a keen baker, book lover and crafter. I’m delighted to be able to support the staff, children and community of Warton.

Lawrie Phipps – Community Governor

I have lived in Warton for the past ten years and currently chair the Resident’s Association. I care about community issues, and the opportunities available to young people growing up here. Professionally, I work in higher education and digital leadership, supporting universities and colleges across the UK on education, research and technology strategy.

I joined the governing body because I believe schools play a vital role in shaping confident, curious, and compassionate children. I hope to bring a thoughtful and supportive perspective to the role, while helping ensure the school continues to provide a positive environment for pupils, staff and families alike.

I am one of our Assistant Headteachers and currently teach Year 3 in Maple Class.  I lead English and Computing across the school as well as lots of work on safeguarding for our staff, children and families. Homelife is very busy with a one and four-year-old; they keep me on my toes! When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, watching football and seeing my family and friends.

Susan Friend – Head Teacher (ex-officio)

I have been the Head Teacher of Warton Nethersole’s CE Primary School since November 2020. I am very proud of being a part of this community and have been delighted to have worked here now for nearly 4 years! I have previously worked in very varied schools in London, Prague and Bristol and so a small village primary has been a new territory that brings its own challenges but also many, many rewards. The team here are excellent and I am very excited about what our LAB, our staff, our children and parents have achieved and can continue to in our future.
